The Presidency has relieved Fegho John Umunubo, one of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s senior aides, of his appointment with immediate effect.
A statement confirming the decision was issued on Tuesday, though the Presidency did not provide detailed reasons for Umunubo’s removal. The announcement described the termination as part of an internal restructuring aimed at “ensuring efficiency and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Umunubo, a lawyer and policy strategist, had been serving as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Vice President. He was widely regarded as a rising figure among the younger generation of political appointees and was active in public policy discussions, particularly on governance and technology.
The sudden development has stirred speculation within political circles, with some sources linking it to recent disagreements over communication strategies in the Vice President’s office. Others insist it is a routine administrative shake-up.
So far, neither Umunubo nor the Vice President’s office has issued a personal statement. Presidency officials noted that a replacement will be announced in the coming days.
