Governor Ademola Adeleke has disclosed that Osun State has been able to withstand the impact of withheld federal allocations by intensifying efforts to raise its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Speaking at a state function in Osogbo, the governor explained that the government had adopted several innovative measures to grow revenue without imposing undue hardship on citizens. According to him, the reforms include plugging leakages, strengthening tax administration, and expanding the state’s revenue base through agriculture, mining, and technology-driven initiatives.
Governor Adeleke noted that while the withholding of statutory allocations posed a serious challenge to governance, Osun was able to sustain key programmes and meet its obligations by relying on improved local revenue. He assured residents that the state government remains committed to transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
He also emphasized that the long-term goal is to make Osun less dependent on federal allocations by building a diversified economy capable of funding development priorities.
