Osun APC Criticises Adeleke Over Supreme Court Move on LG Funds
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at Governor Ademola Adeleke for his approach to the dispute on local government allocations now before the Supreme Court.
In a statement on Tuesday, the party accused the governor of lacking direction, pointing to his repeated changes of stance on the matter. They noted that Adeleke first sued the Federal Government over the alleged withholding of council funds, later attempted to pull out of the case, and has now returned to pursue it at the apex court.
The APC said this inconsistency portrays the state government as confused and unserious, especially on an issue that directly affects grassroots administration.
The dispute traces back to the February local government polls organised by the Adeleke administration, which the APC maintains were conducted against a valid Court of Appeal judgment that had reinstated previously elected council chairmen.
The opposition further argued that only the Supreme Court has the authority to set aside that appellate ruling, and warned Adeleke against what it described as playing politics with funds meant for local councils.
