Osun @34: Governor Adeleke Warns Against Politicizing Welfare, Highlights Major Development Gains
OSOGBO – Governor Ademola Adeleke marked Osun State’s 34th anniversary with a firm warning to politicians against using public welfare as a tool for political gain. Speaking at Adolak Hotel in Osogbo after an early morning state broadcast, the governor emphasized that the primary goal of governance is the welfare of the people.
“It is anti-God to hurt the public through state power. We must never play politics with the welfare of the public. Osun is our common state, and voters’ rights must be respected,” Adeleke said. He assured citizens that his administration would continue prioritizing their welfare above all else.
The chairman of the anniversary celebrations, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, represented by House Speaker Adewale Egbedun, praised Adeleke’s achievements and called on President Bola Tinubu to release Osun’s withheld allocations.
Reflecting on the state’s progress, Adeleke highlighted the administration’s accomplishments since 2022: stabilizing the public service, ensuring civil servants and pensioners received entitlements, addressing the infrastructure deficit, and transforming cities and towns into economic hubs. He also pointed to reforms in the digital economy, electricity sector, mining, tourism, sports, education, and healthcare.
“Osun loves good governance, and we will not relent in delivering democratic dividends across all sectors,” the governor said.
The anniversary celebration was attended by the First Lady, Chief (Mrs) Titilayo Adeleke; Secretary to the State Government Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; traditional rulers, commissioners, special advisers, civil servants, and invited guests from across the state.
