Beware of 419”: Inscription on APC Meeting Venue Sparks Mockery in Osun
A recent photo circulating online has stirred heated conversations in Osun politics. The picture shows members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ede South Local Government holding a meeting in a building with the bold inscription: “Beware of 419” written across its wall.
Critics have seized on the image to lampoon the party, with some commentators claiming the message is a symbolic reflection of the APC’s alleged deceit in the state. The irony, they argue, is that the very house openly warning the public against “419” is the same place where the local APC gathers for its meetings.
Supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun have used the picture to reinforce their criticism of the opposition, describing the APC as a party that has lost credibility with the people. “Osun citizens should take note,” one PDP voice said, “this inscription is not an accident—it is a mirror of the APC’s true character.”
The development comes amid ongoing political arguments over the state’s 2024 financial report, which showed a sharp rise in Internally Generated Revenue under Governor Ademola Adeleke. While the APC has dismissed the figures as fabricated, the PDP insists the report is transparent and credible.
For many observers, the viral photo has now become more than a casual coincidence. To them, the wall inscription is a powerful metaphor for the current political battle in Osun State.
